Engineering Science and Technology Project Assistant Closing Date: 12 April 2010 Post Title: Project Assistant Post Level: Equivalent to General Service 4 (GS4). (This is indicative only. The final level will be determined at the time of recruitment according to the candidate’s qualifications).* Starting Date: Immediately (contract period for 6 months with possibilities of extension) Closing Date: 12 April 2010 RESPONSIBILITIES: Under direct supervision of Programme Specialist in Engineering Sciences and Technology (EST) at the UNESCO Jakarta Office, the incumbent will perform the following functions: a. Take the initiative in implementing UNESCO Jakarta e-learning Programme; b. Maintain liaison and dialogue with stakeholders and partners including SOI-Asia, Directorate of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education Indonesia, TEIN, INHERENT, MYREN, PREGINET and other National Research and Education Networks in Asia and the Pacific on regular basis to conduct the e-learning and e-forum activities; c. Maintain the learning management system on UNESCO archive server and video streaming server and regularly update it in coordination with DIKTI; d. Assist in the conduction, dissemination and socialization of e-learning programme and make sure the process well coordinated and run in timely manner; e. Assist in the administration of the participants of UNESCO e-learning courses in coordination with the networks involved; f. Develop and maintain the portal IHP Nagoya to serve as online forum of IHP Training Course programmes, maintain and update the web portals STEPAN, and CONNECT including uploading necessary materials; g. As appropriate to the position and as specified by the supervisors, participate in project implementation, and h. Perform additional job related duties and responsibilities as requested. COMPETENCIES: 1. Having experience working on and knowledge of networks i.e. APAN, TEIN, SOI, INHERENT or other NRENs 2. Having experience working on and knowledge of e-learning or ICT use for education. 3. Technical knowledge of web hosting (FTP, CPanel & other website or internet tools/software); 4. Strong communication skills (spoken and written) 5. Having experience working in international and multicultural environment 6. Team worker/builder, proven record in working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals and ensure timely delivery of results 7. Ability to identify priority activities and assignments and make necessary adjustments as required 8. Ability to work under heavy pressure while maintaining accuracy and paying attention to details 9. Strong analytical skills and ability to analyze complex issues QUALIFICATIONS: Educations and Training Background: - A minimum of Academy degree (D3) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Education, or Computer Programming especially in web programming and design; - Extensive knowledge in ICT use for higher education Work Experience: - At least 3 years work experiences closely related to the responsibilities mentioned above. - Experience in managing/organizing e-learning courses, distant learning programme or any activity using research and education network. - Experience in web programming using CMS Joomla and web design; CONTACT DETAILS: Most recent Curriculum Vitae accompanied by an application letter should be sent to: The Administration Officer UNESCO House Jl.
